Netanyahu Says He Will “Finish the Job” Against Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met in Yerushalayim to discuss pressing regional issues, notably the ongoing situation in Gaza and the broader Middle East.

Secretary Rubio unequivocally endorsed Israel’s goal to dismantle Hamas’s military and governing capabilities in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that as long as Hamas retains power, lasting peace remains unattainable. This stance underscores the shared U.S.-Israel perspective on the necessity of neutralizing groups that perpetuate violence and instability in the region.

Demonstrating tangible support for Israel’s security, the United States has authorized the delivery of advanced military munitions. A recent shipment of 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs arrived in Israel, a move facilitated by the current U.S. administration to bolster Israel’s defensive and strategic operations. This transfer signifies the robust defense cooperation between the two nations.

The leaders expressed concerns over the tenuous ceasefire in Gaza, which is approaching a critical juncture. The initial phase of the truce is nearing its conclusion, with subsequent negotiations yet to commence. Both Netanyahu and Rubio stressed the importance of Hamas releasing all remaining hostages to prevent a resurgence of hostilities. The ceasefire agreement includes provisions for the exchange of detainees and the withdrawal of Israeli forces, contingent upon successful negotiations.

The discussions also touched upon broader regional dynamics, particularly concerning Iran’s influence. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and countering its aggressive actions in the Middle East. This unified stance reflects a strategic partnership aimed at promoting stability and security in the region.
