Babysitter Confronts Intruder Hiding Under Child’s Bed in Kansas Home

In a concerning incident near Great Bend, Kansas, a babysitter encountered an intruder hiding beneath a child’s bed after the child expressed fear of a “monster.” The event unfolded late on Monday evening when the child, under the babysitter’s care, reported hearing noises from under the bed. Upon investigation, the babysitter discovered a 27-year-old man concealed there.

A confrontation ensued between the babysitter and the intruder, during which the child was inadvertently knocked to the ground, sustaining minor injuries. Authorities were promptly notified, but the suspect had fled the scene before their arrival.

Investigations revealed that the man had previously resided in the home but was legally prohibited from being on the property due to a protection from abuse order. This order was issued following earlier charges, including criminal threat and domestic battery, related to incidents in January and February.

The following day, deputies located the suspect and, after a brief foot chase, apprehended him. He is currently held without bond, facing new charges such as aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, and child endangerment.

This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and adherence to legal protections designed to ensure the safety of individuals and families. It serves as a reminder for communities to remain alert and for individuals to respect legal boundaries established for the protection of others.
