President Trump Expected to Receive Private Boeing 747-8 Jet from Qatar
U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to receive a private Boeing 747-8 jet, nicknamed “The Flying Palace,” as a gift from Qatar this week. The aircraft, valued at approximately $400 million, is an extraordinary gesture from the Emir’s family.
Trump was reportedly impressed by the jet during a visit to West Palm Beach Airport in Florida back in February, near his Mar-a-Lago estate.
According to a report by ABC News, the agreement between the parties is in advanced stages and includes the transfer of ownership of the jet to the American president. The plane could potentially be used as one of the Air Force One aircraft for official presidential travel.
Sources familiar with the matter indicated that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Counsel David Warrington reviewed the legality of the arrangement. They determined that the gift would be permissible—on the condition that ownership of the aircraft is eventually transferred to the foundation managing Trump’s presidential library after he leaves office.
Under the proposed deal, the 13-year-old jet will first be handed over to the U.S. Air Force for technological and security modifications. Only afterward will it be ready for use. The U.S. government will cover all costs associated with the modifications and transfer.
According to the terms, the aircraft’s ownership will be transferred to Trump’s presidential library by January 1, 2029—marking the end of his second term.
