Mysterious QR Code Stickers Appear on Munich Graves, Prompting Investigation
In an unusual incident, over 1,000 gravestones and wooden crosses across three Munich cemeteries have been found adorned with QR code stickers, leading to a police investigation. The affected cemeteries are Waldfriedhof, Sendlinger Friedhof, and Friedhof Solln.
The stickers, measuring approximately 5 by 3.5 centimeters, display QR codes that, when scanned, reveal the name of the deceased and the specific location of their grave within the cemetery. No additional information is provided upon scanning. The stickers have been placed on both longstanding gravestones and newer graves marked only by wooden crosses.
Police spokesperson Christian Drexler stated that authorities have yet to identify a pattern or motive behind the placement of these stickers. The removal of the stickers has resulted in partial damage and discoloration to some gravestones, leading to potential property damage charges. The police are appealing to the public for any information or witnesses who may have observed suspicious activities in the cemeteries.
The incident has raised concerns among the local community, with many seeking answers about the purpose and origin of these QR code stickers. As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to uncover the individuals responsible and to understand their intentions.
