White House Supports Israel’s Decision to Postpone Release of Palestinian Prisoners

The White House has expressed its support for Israel’s decision to delay the release of 600 Palestinian prisoners. This move comes in response to what has been described as the “barbaric treatment” of Israeli hostages by the Hamas organization.

National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes stated that postponing the prisoner release is an “appropriate response” to the actions of Hamas. President Donald Trump has also indicated his readiness to back Israel in “whatever course of action it chooses regarding Hamas.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel would not proceed with the planned release of 602 prisoners until Hamas provides assurances to cease the “demeaning” ceremonies conducted during the transfer of Israeli hostages.

These ceremonies have been criticized for parading hostages before crowds, which many view as a violation of human dignity and a means of propaganda. In one such instance, Israeli hostage Eliya Cohen was displayed flanked by Hamas fighters before her release.

In response to Israel’s postponement, Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi declared that all negotiations would be halted until the agreed-upon prisoners are released.

The situation has further strained the fragile ceasefire and ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
