Jerusalem Dentist Collapses Mid-Treatment, Saved After Suffering Cardiac Arrest
Jerusalem, Thursday – A Jerusalem dentist is recovering in hospital after collapsing from sudden cardiac arrest while treating a patient at his dental clinic Thursday morning. Quick action by bystanders and Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency teams was credited with saving his life.
MDA’s 101 emergency call center received the report just after the doctor collapsed mid-procedure. First responders arrived to find the man unconscious, without a pulse or signs of breathing. It quickly became clear the victim was the treating dentist, who had gone into cardiac arrest while working on a patient.
Paramedics began immediate resuscitation, including chest compressions, ventilation, medication, and electric shocks using a defibrillator. According to MDA paramedic Bilal Abed Rabah, “He had no pulse and wasn’t breathing. The people at the clinic started CPR right away, which made all the difference.”
Emergency care continued en route to the hospital in an intensive care ambulance. During transport, the doctor’s heart began beating again, and he regained full consciousness shortly before arriving at the hospital.
The dentist, whose name has not been released, is in stable condition and receiving further care. MDA officials emphasized the importance of immediate CPR and quick emergency response in increasing the chances of survival in cardiac arrest cases.
